Welcome to the School's out for play website

Children and young people spend a third of their day, week and time in school in the playground. This should be an enjoyable experience but for many it is not.

Nowadays there are fewer opportunities and spaces for children to play. Technology has become an attractive alternative. However, play is essential for children's healthy development; children's imagination will flourish with the use of natural equipment - sand, flour, water, wood, cardboard boxes. They develop numerous skills through play which help them throughout life.

This website gives a number of examples how school staff and other proffessionals working in schools can develop and improve the quality of play across the whole school.
